Here are my simple steps on how to hem curtains.
Basic things that you will need.
Measure your curtain from a hanging position on your installed curtain rod. Gently tug at your curtain to where you wish for your curtains to fall and pin to your desired length. In this picture the curtain is measured all the way to the floor, just touching it. If you want to see a preview of how the curtain length will look without the extra fabric pooling at the floor, fold the extra fabric back and pin (example in 3rd picture).
After you finished pinning the curtain, remove it from the rod and smooth it out on flat surface. If you folded up the extra fabric, remove those pins. Take a ruler and make a mark where you placed your pin, then add at least two additional inches from your mark to allow enough room to hem. (The example above first mark is at the 6 inch point then an additional 2 inches was added making the 2nd mark at the 8 inch point).
Cut the material with fabric scissors at your 1st mark (example here is the 6 inch mark) and fold your hem half way then again up to your 2nd mark(example here is the 8 inch mark), this will create a double fold, next pin then Iron your crease, this is a very important step because the fabric at your hem will not bulk and will be neat and clean when stitched.

A straight stitch technique was done to hem these curtains.

That's all to it! A quick view on the basics on how to hem curtains in a nutshell, now that you know how easy this is you can do it too.
