Here's an opportunity to see an empty basement remodel from start to finish. I'm excited to share this project with pictures that show the perfect way to design with extra features, as well as decorate for the sports fan. Take a look at the process.

The basement from the beginning stage.
Homeowners request quotes:“I want the area to not to look so much like a basement and to flow with the main part of our house, with some personality, plenty of light and not to look like an afterthought”.
Main uses: "We want the area to enjoy mostly for the husbands use as the “man cave” for watching sports, family time and entertaining, a grown folk’s space with pops of wow factor within the room”.
A proposed layout plan was presented. Outside contractors were hired for the demo to lay studs, drywall, lighting, plumbing and electric.

Side walls were laid with studs as well as a moisture barrier against the concrete.

To make the space larger the wall was taken down that was next to the door and moved back taking space from the garage as well as the existing window that was in the garage space for even more light. (can’t have enough windows in a basement space), this way the room can accommodate a pool table, an area for watching TV, added space for “pops of WOW factor”, a kitchen and bathroom.

This was the front view of the wall moved back. The homeowner was glad a contractor was hired because being DYI family they were going to do the demo themselves and build a stud wall back. Consulting with an outside contractor they found out that an additional ceiling beam was needed to support the house. As you can see the garage still has windows so the homeowner will still get light in that space.

Drywall and ceiling lights were installed throughout the space to create a clean look, recessed lighting was used.

An engineered hardwood floor was installed throughout for high traffic.

Electric, lights, painted walls, and a built in surround sound system is finished.

This is a shot of where the proposed kitchen will go.

The Kitchen was installed with warm white shaker style cabinets, as well as a peninsula for extra seating.

The kitchen counter top was installed and the Interior Decorating phase comes next.

The completed kitchen is equipped with everything the client will need to entertain and enjoy. To give the space a more rugged look against the classic white cabinets a brick backsplash was installed and also carried out under the peninsula to anchor the space.

In the main sitting area attention to detail was key to bring out the many features and pops of interesting accents this space has. The same brick material from the kitchen was also designed into the main sitting area to tie in both spaces. An accent wall of shiplap material surrounds a custom built-in fish tank.

On the adjacent wall a door also has the same shiplap material to make the area more cohesive. Built in display cases were installed with pocket lighting to showcase the homeowners love for football, as well as color lighting that surrounds the TV to add to the enjoyment.
This basement remodel has many multi-function areas within the space that can be used for entertaining on many levels. Will this be the ultimate Man-Cave, a space that the family will enjoy, or the entertainers dream? Whatever the use is, it will be a sure hit!
